Romantic & Intimate Woodland Wedding in Northern Michigan

I invite you into the forest, into a real life fairy tale that we photographed this summer amongst the tall trees in Northern, Michigan. This Wedding was held at a family member’s house in Alanson, so sorry eveyone, don’t get too attached, it’s one of a kind and private, but with our photographs we’ll let you have a little peek inside!

Yes, this was a real wedding. No it was not staged. Yes, I wanted to cry. Yes I recommend every bride who has this theme to invite us, immediately.

I wanted to set the scene first, before I made your jaw drop from the outdoor ceremony and reception decor (thanks covid) but I realize now, that’s impossible. Because our bride, Madsion, was stunning, and every little detail down to the ring box is just perfection.

Because we were so limited in the amount of people that were legally allowed to be at the wedding I did the hair and makeup for Madison and the bridal bouquet, flowers, and decor was all grown and designed by the bride’s aunt! Again, fairy tale moment.

One small perk we noticed this year while photographing Weddings during covid (masked up, following all guidelines put in place, rolling with the punches every time they changed on us) was that it truly gave our couples a unique opportunity to focus on the tiniest of things, experience a low key day (even if planning and re-planning was not low key, we all worked together and make it happen!) and celebrate their love in the most intimate way. It sounds crazy- but these wedding this year were some of our best ever!

Ok, it’s time for your first look…. not only of Devin, our handsome Groom, but at this magical wonderland this family created….. time to step into the woods! We know they can be emotional, so brace yourself!

And now it’s time to walk down the aisle. Here we go!

The very few, special people who were with us started to gather and fill the picture perfection setting with even more love and joy . It’s these moments that separate the Pinterest Perfect set up from the true wonder of a real life Wedding!

Vintage Boudoir Session in Historical Downtown Detroit, Michigan

You’re going to want to sit down for this one. We’ve brought you Wedding blogs that have brought you to tears, we have showcased Engagement Sessions that have made you feel all the love, but we have never shared anything this fierce on our blog to date. And we don’t know if you are ready for it. We weren’t. WOW.

It’s nice to play in the light during the day. but at these shoots we want to capture all sides of you, so let’s darken things up, and slip into the shadows for a bit, embrace that dark side for a moment!

Alright, time to change into something more comfortable. Think vintage, think romantic, but don’t think Marilyn Monroe because we threw a little BoHo vibe in there too and what we got was a totally artistic and powerful Boudoir Session that left us speechless.

This was a gift to Madison’s soon to be hubby (keep an eye out for their wedding on the blog as well!) so we had to make sure it was glamorous and made a statement. For that reason we knew an outdated or overused local hotel would NOT cut it. If you’re wondering where these were shot we rented an Air BnB, drove from Port Huron to Historic Downtown Detroit and did it up right!

In many ways we also kept the day super simplistic and fun. No crazy props, poses, or multiple appointments, I did her makeup, Amazon hooked up the lingerie, and the rest was all left up to this gorgeous girl and that to die for natural light flooding the space! This last outfit we totally adore because it completely says BRIDAL boudoir in the most elegant and stunning way.
