Romantic Sunset Engagement in Port Huron, MI

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the city life, give me a ticket to New York City any day, but I’m pretty partial to our little country town too and all that it offers. Claire and Zach made the drive from their busy, big city of Detroit, MI to our small, little town of Port Huron for their Summer Engagement Session. They opted to trade big buildings for tall trees and 4 lane expressways for dirt back roads, and it turned out both classy and romantic. Take a look!

Now that you’re done staring, and googling for that exact same white jumpsuit, because…. let’s be honest, it’s PERFECT for a Bride To Be’s Engagement Photos, we’ll change into something more casual and venture out into the woods. Let’s go!

I shouldn’t tell all my secrets, but these next photos are the perfect example of fully trusting your photographer, and embracing less than romanticized locations when we bring them up. We’re pretty good at turning trash to treasure on the fly when it comes to backgrounds AND seeing the possibility in all spaces. Ya know… like this graveyard!! Yep. These golden hour beauties look like they were snapped in a whimsical field full of magic and love. And, for the most part that is true. We just had to be surrounded by gravestones. You know the golden glow was worth it though- see for yourself!

Tour of Port Huron, MI

A downtown Engagement Session

Detroit Wedding Photographer.JPG

It was Spring in Michigan and you could smell the flowers starting to bloom. Sarah and Jeremy made the long drive from Midland to come shoot with us, and I’m not sure, but it might have something to do with our shared obsession for lilacs. A typical overcast day meant just the right amount of wind and clouds to make this Engagement Session along the streets of Historic Down Town Port Huron Michigan perfect. We started tucked under the awning at the newly renovated Sperry’s Moviehouse and slowly started to stroll and tour the city from there.

And yes, the WHOLE family was involved. Can we just stare at that face for a few minutes before you scroll on?

A change of clothes and location made for a whole new look. That’s what is perfect about these shoots- you can show off all sides of you and your love story. The casual, the classy, or anything in between. You can go from relaxing in the overgrown field with your pup to totally glamming it up, popping the bubbly. Yep. Keep scrolling- it keeps getting better!

And if you’re ever concerned about getting the perfect location, don’t worry, we always got you! In search for a beautiful lilac background, in the middle of Covid season, I came across this perfection and did what any dedicated photographer would do- found the house they belonged to, knocked on the door, stood 6ft away, and asked if we could borrow them for a shoot! Thankfully they were so kind and said yes!

The shoot ended with a total mood- like the evening was pulled straight from a classy black and white film. Dancing. Champagne. We may make this mandatory for every shoot- this was SO fun!
